Save a Life – Adopt a Pet in ETX

Palestine- The Biddell Animal Rescue Center (BARC- The Anderson County Humane Society) has joined forces with MYETX in hopes of finding homes for homeless pets in Anderson County.

Animal shelters are your best source when looking for a pet. Shelters have a great selection great selection of adult animals, and many of them also offer kittens, puppies, and purebred pets. (Purebreds account for about 25 to 30 percent of a shelter’s dog population).

Many pets at your local shelter are waiting for new homes because they were obtained by people with unrealistic expectations of the time, effort, and money required to sustain a lifelong relationship with their pet. National figures indicate that about half of the animals in shelters are euthanized for lack of good homes. Animals at your local shelter are just waiting for someone like you to give them a new home.

Howdy y’all, my name is Rango! I’m an 11 month-old gentle and affectionate Golden Retriever mix looking for a loving, permanent home. I’ll impress you with my calm and obedient manner. I respond very well to commands and already know sit and down. I walk well on a leash and know not to jump. I’m friendly with both children and other dogs. I would make an excellent addition for a family with a large, fenced yard. I’m current on my shots and am waiting to meet you at BARC, The Humane Society in Palestine!

Hi there friends, my name is Walter! I’m a 10 month-old playful and energetic Lab mix searching for a forever home. I’m still a growing boy, so I need someone who can give me lots of attention and play-time with a large, fenced yard. I will need some training, as I don’t know commands just yet. I’m a master at the game of fetch and will impress you with not only how well I retrieve my toys, but also how I politely and promptly drop them at your feet! I’m friendly with other dogs and small children. I’m an active boy for sure, but when I wind down I’m all love and affection. I am current on my shots and waiting to play a game of fetch with you at BARC, The Humane Society in Palestine!

Hi, I’m Lizzie! I’m a 2 year-old sweet female Tabby. I am up-to date on my shots. Come meet me at BARC, The Humane Society inPalestine!

I enjoy going on walks and runs and especially enjoy having my head and ears scratched and rubbed! I'd be best for someone who has a yard for me to play in and time to give me the attention I need. I am up-to date on my shots. Come meet me today at BARC, The Humane Society inPalestine!

Hi, my name is Jock! I’m a 1 and ½ year-old male Terrier mix. I’m kid-friendly and already housebroken! I’ll impress you with my intelligence right off the bat, but just make sure the house/yard is super secure, as I’m quite the escape artist! I’m up-to date on my shots. Come meet me today at BARC, The Humane Society inPalestine!

Try petfinder.com and enter your zip code. That will bring up many adoptable pets. Best is to go to the shelter nearest you if you can or visit or call a local pet store (Stores mainly have cats though). Petsense in Palestine has precious kittens right now needing homes! Tammy is a foster mom and has many dogs needing homes. Find her at http://goodoledog.shutterfly.com/ She lists her phone number there. Also there’s a wonderful rescue gal named Jacki who often comes in from Frankston with precious puppies at the Palestine Walmart. Her # is 903-714-4687. If you’re looking for something in particular just call the local shelter and tell them. They will call you if they have anything you might like. Good Luck and thanks for wanting to adopt!

My post was in response to the person who said they couldn’t find any available pets to adopt. Their post is not here anymore…?
